Cleaning of Oriental Rugs
Most gentle and thorough cleaning process available.
Taking proper care of your area rug will prolong its life and appearance. Vacuum your area rug regularly to remove loose soil, taking special care when vacuuming fringe and edges. Removing your shoes when you enter the house is probably one of the best ways of keeping sand and grit away from your oriental rugs. Dirt can work like little pieces of glass cutting the rug where you are walking causing path areas to appear. These areas become soiled and worn making it almost impossible to have your area rug restored to its original appearance.
Oriental Rugs are more delicate than carpeting making them more difficult to keep clean. If you remove your shoes and also turn the area rugs on a regular basis you will prevent a path area from forming too quickly which helps to prolong their beauty and delay the need for having the rugs cleaned.
To judge how dirty a rug is, try one of these methods:
Pick up a corner of the rug and while holding it, kick the back of the rug sharply. If a cloud of dirt flies out of the pile, the area rug is dirty and needs cleaning. NOTE: some dust and wool fibers are normal!
Kneel down on the rug and rub the pile vigorously with your hand in a short arc for 5 to 10 seconds. Look at your fingers and palm: if your hand is dirty, the rug needs cleaning.
With the pile facing UP fold part of the rug back upon itself so that the pile opens along a line of knots. Look down into the base of the pile at the foundation of the rug. If the warp and weft look dirty, there is dirt deep in the pile where a home vacuum cleaner cannot reach it. The rug needs cleaning.
With proper care an Oriental rug should not only last a lifetime, it can become a family heirloom. Oriental rugs are extremely durable, but they need regular care to ensure they remain in top condition. From hand-made oriental rugs to machine-made rugs, we are the experts for your care and maintenance needs.
Our gentle cleaning process is perfect for servicing your Oriental rugs. The low moisture machine generates an even layer of dry foam just ahead of the brush. The dry foam encapsulates the dirt from the rug fibers. A soft cylindrical brush combs and lifts the pile all the way to the base of the carpet. The encapsulated soil is then immediately extracted with a powerful built-in vacuum—all in one forward pass. This process leaves the rugs so that they are dry very quickly and helps to restore the rugs to their original luster and condition.
